The Green Horseshoe Walking Route
Lenuci’s Green Horseshoe (Zelena potkova) is a U-shaped chain of eight squares and parks laid out by city planner Milan Lenuci in the late 19th century. Starting at Trg Kralja Tomislava, it is one of the easiest and most beautiful city walks in Europe.
What is the Green Horseshoe?
The Horseshoe connects the green spaces of the Lower Town into a continuous park system, balancing the built-up blocks of central Zagreb.
Its eight squares and parks include Tomislavov trg, Zrinjevac, Strossmayerov trg, the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU), the Botanical Garden, Markušev trg, Trg žrtava fašizma and Nikola Šubić Zrinski Square.
